Firefox 7 จะไม่โชว์ “http://”

เพื่อให้ผู้ใช้มองเห็นชื่อ URL ของเว็บไซต์ได้ง่ายขึ้น Firefox 7 จะปรับรูปแบบการแสดงข้อความใน address bar ขนานใหญ่

อย่างแรกคือ ถ้าเป็นเว็บไซต์ทั่วไปที่ผ่าน http protocol ก็จะไม่มีตัว “http://” แสดงให้เกะกะรำคาญลูกตาแล้ว แต่ถ้าเป็น protocol อื่น เช่น https:// เป็นต้น ก็จะยังมีตัวแสดง protocol ปรากฏอยู่

อีกอย่างคือ ตัว “www.” ก็จะใช้ตัวอักษรที่เป็นสีอ่อน เพื่อขับเน้นให้ตัวอักษรที่เป็นชื่อเว็บชัดขึ้น

และสุดท้าย “/” ข้างหลัง URL ที่เป็น root path ก็จะหายไป เช่น http://www.google.com/ ก็จะเหลือแค่ http://www.google.com เป็นต้น แต่ถ้าหากเป็น path ย่อยลงไป ก็ยังมี “/” ต่อท้ายอยู่ เช่น http://www.xxx.com/yyy/ เป็นต้น

LulzSec ใช้ Ubuntu!?

LulzSec ซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มแฮ๊กเกอร์ที่รวมตัวกันเพื่อเจาะระบบความปลอดภัยขององค์กรใหญ่ๆ ได้ปล่อยเอกสารลับชุดล่าสุดใน Pirate Bay และมีคนตาดีไปแอบเห็นว่าในกองเอกสารนั้นมี screenshot อยู่ด้วย

ไฟล์นั้นมีชื่อว่า “navy.mil owned.png” (ถ้าเดาจากชื่อคงหมายถึงหลักฐานว่าหน้าเว็บของ US Navy ถูกเจาะแล้ว ประมาณนั้นมั้ง) สังเกตดูจากรูปจะเห็นว่าหน้าต่าง Firefox นั้นมันช่างละม้ายคล้ายกับ Firefox บน Ubuntu เหลือเกิน ทั้ง font และขอบหน้าต่าง

ตอนแรกผมก็นึกว่าพวกแฮ็กเกอร์จะใช้ distro เมพๆ อย่างพวก Arch หรือ Backtrack ซะอีก ไม่น่าเชื่อว่า Ubuntu จะเป็นที่นิยมตั้งแต่ noobs ไปจนถึง pro เลยแฮะ

Linus Torvalds บอกว่า Linux 3.0 จะเร็วขึ้นแบบรู้สึกได้

เมื่อวาน Linus Torvalds ได้เขียนข้อความใน mailing list ว่า “Linux 3.0 จะเร็วขึ้นกว่า 2.6.39 (ซึ่งเป็นรุ่นก่อนหน้าหนึ่งรุ่น) อย่างที่สามารถสังเกตได้” อันเป็นผลมาจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงในหลายจุดและแก้ไขข้อบกพร่องที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประสิทธิภาพไปแล้ว

แต่ Linus ก็ยังบอกว่า ผล benchmark บางอันบนบางเครื่องอาจจะแสดงประสิทธิภาพไม่ได้เต็มที่

Synaptic ถูกถอดออกจากแผ่นติดตั้ง Ubuntu แล้ว, เพิ่ม Deja Dup

ตามนั้นเลย Synaptic package manager ที่เคยมีข่าวว่าจะถูกถอดออกมาตั้งแต่ปีที่แล้ว ในที่สุดก็ถูกเด้งออกไปจาก ISO image ของ Oneiric daily แล้ว

พอ Synaptic ออกไป Ubuntu 11.10 ก็ยัด Deja Dup ซึ่งเป็นซอฟท์แวร์จัดการ backup เข้ามาทันที โดยตัว Deja Dup ที่มากับ Ubuntu จะรองรับการ backup ขึ้นบริการ cloud storage ของ Ubuntu One ด้วย

Ambiance GTK3 มาแล้ว

Ambiance theme ซึ่งเป็น default theme ของ Ubuntu ได้รับการ port ไปใช้ GTK3 engine เรียบร้อยแล้ว

GTK3 engine ที่ Ubuntu ใช้มีชื่อว่า “Unico” ซึ่งพัฒนาโดยทีม Ubuntu เอง และเป็นที่ชัดเจนว่า Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot ที่จะออกปลายปีนี้ก็คงใช้ Unico เป็น GTK engine หลักแน่นอน
